WATCH: ‘Rebelde’ Cast Covers Bad Bunny, Danna Paola & More
The second season of Netflix’s Rebelde is finally out. And while we’re excited about seeing the relationships develop, the music is also a big component of the show. This time around, the stars are taking on the music of Bad Bunny and Danna Paola. And, of course, they’re also singing more RBD songs.
The second season of Netflix’s Rebelde reboot started streaming on July 27. While the first season saw the stars singing classics by Selena and José José, now they are covering songs by more contemporary Latine artists like Bad Bunny. Franco Masini’s Luka and Saak Figueroa’s Okane recorded a duet of the Puerto Rican superstar’s hit “Yo Visto Así.” The duo turn the swaggering trap anthem into a sultry dance track.
Based on the trailer for the second season, it’s evident that Luka and Okane get involved with each other when they share a kiss. Their relationship is the focal point for their cover of RBD’s “Bésame Sin Miedo.” Luke and Okane actually kiss for the first time during the song. They sing the sweet love song alongside Azul Guaita’s Jana and Sergio Mayer Mori’s Estebán. In a behind-the-scenes video, Alejandro Puente revealed that the cast covered RBD’s “Qué Hay Detrás,” but for some reason, it didn’t make the final cut.
Another major Latine pop star the cast covers is Danna Paola. Andrea Chaparro’s MJ does a pretty faithful version of the Mexican singer’s anthem “Mala Fama.” But Danna is not the only Latina that the cast covers in season two. Jana and MJ go head-to-head in singing Natti Natasha’s sexy banger “Pa’ Mala Yo.” The two women also join forces to sing Becky G’s “Mala Santa.”
Christian Nodal is another Mexican singer that receives the Rebelde reboot cover treatment. Puente’s Sebastián Langarica turns his mariachi song “De Los Besos Que Te Di” into an electro-pop bop. There’s also more original music by the cast with the new songs “Te Perdi,” “Indiferente,” and “Soy Rebelde.”
