WATCH: Rauw Alejandro, Tainy & More Search for Next Superstar in Netflix’s “La Firma”

Rauw Alejandro, Nicki Nicole, and Yandel are looking for the next Latine superstar. Today (Mar. 21), the trailer for the Netflix singing competition La Firma came out, where aspiring artists compete to sign with hit-maker Tainy’s record label.

Last year, Netflix opened the casting for La Firma, which will be released as The Signing in the U.S. market. The complete judging panel for the series includes Rauw, Nicki, Yandel, Tainy, and Tainy’s manager, Lex Borrero. The winning contestant will sign with Tainy and Borrero’s artist incubator collective Neon16. The label is behind the multiple hits for Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Selena Gomez, and Kali Uchis.

In the trailer for La Firma, aspiring artists from places like the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, and Puerto Rico are shown getting ready for the competition. All the contestants are flown to Miami, FL, where they come face-to-face with the stellar judging panel. “I feel like a superstar,” one contestant says in Spanish.

In addition to performing on stage, the contestants are also shown putting time into the recording studio with Tainy and the Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am. J Balvin also makes a quick cameo appearance in the trailer. “One of you will sign with us to become an official artist with Neon16,” Tainy says in a voice-over. In an intense moment, Borrero is shown crushing one contestant’s dream by tearing up their record contract. “Today, you won’t be signed,” he says. “Your contract has been canceled.”

La Firma will start streaming on Netflix on April 4. The series is produced by Borrero’s NTERTAIN with Propagate. NTERTAIN’s Borrero, Ivanni Rodriguez, and Santiago Zapata will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers of the series. Borrero’s production company launched Ricardo Montaner’s series Los Montaners on Disney+ last year, which also starred his family members Mau y Ricky, Evaluna Montaner, and Camilo
