WATCH: Karol G Embraces Self-Love in “MIENTRAS ME CURO DEL CORA” Music Video
To celebrate her newest album Mañana Será Bonito’s history-making success, Karol G released a new music video for “MIENTRAS ME CURO DEL CORA” on Mar. 7.
“And to celebrate that my album ‘MAÑANA SERÁ BONITO’ became the first 100% Spanish-language album by a Latina female artist to reach #1 on Billboard Top 200, I’m going to share with you the video of “MIENTRAS ME CURO DEL CORA” which is probably one of the most special videos I’ve recorded in my entire career ?✨☀️??,” the Colombian pop star wrote online.
The music video, directed by Pedro Artola, embraces Hawaiian culture. It shows their emblematic hula dances, gorgeous green landscapes, cinematic beaches, fruits, and foods. There are video frames that show a popular shrimp and rice dish and Hawaiian shaved ice. We also see Karol G walking down a beach shore in a brown two-piece bathing suit, singing the lyrics to her song. She’s also shown enjoying her time near a waterfall and meditating, soaking in moments in nature as she cures her heart. Towards the music video’s end, we see her participating in a traditional Hawaiian rebirth ceremony that ties into the album’s message of letting her past go.
Social media users are identifying with the music video’s message. A Twitter user wrote: “Karol G’s video, ‘Mientras me curo del Cora.’ It’s so transparent, it generates peace, tranquility and I think it’s everything most people need right now ?❤️?.” Another Twitter user wrote: “Karol G does it again and now with her video of MIENTRAS ME CURO DEL CORA where you can see inclusion, freedom, self-love, cultural diversity and most importantly the power to heal our heart! What a queen.”
Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito is undeniably leaving its mark in the Latine music industry. It made Karol the first Latina to reach the Billboard 200 chart’s top spot with an all-Spanish album. It also gave her her first Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit with Shakira, thanks to their joint track “TQG.”
