WATCH: Feid Goes Electronic in ‘Nieve,’ His Latest Collab With Sky Rompiendo
Feid just released his first single of the year, and its new sound already has music fans talking. In “Nieve,” the el movimiento artist has teamed up with Sky Rompiendo to produce a hip-hop track with a catchy hook and booming electronic beat.
Co-written by Feid and Sky, “Nieve” is another example of this Colombian duo blurring music genres to create an innovative and contemporary Latine sound. The single’s sharp yet grooving electronic beat will undoubtedly surprise Feid fans, but it also has us excited for what this new direction has in store.
In the track, Feid’s vocals are down-pitched to sync seamlessly with the pulsing deep house beat. And like with any Feid song, the singer-songwriter lays all of his emotions on the table as he tells us the story of a love gone cold. In other words, “Nieve” has all of the elements we typically look for in a Feid release, but with a unique spin that has us surprised in the best way possible.
The song’s dark themes and contemporary production leave listeners feeling somewhere between melancholy and upbeat. You can’t help but dance along to the song’s hi-hats and bassline while simultaneously vibing to the lyric’s moody (and somewhat haunting) sound. The song also has an element of mystery that’s enticing and perfect for a dark lit room with blaring strobe.
“It has a very powerful energy, and I love it because it is a song that I have always envisioned for my shows,” says Feid regarding the track through a statement. “I’m crazy to perform it live!”
The accompanying music video for “Nieve” is equally mesmerizing. With dark lighting and flairs of red and blue, the video verges on ominous while still conveying the lyric’s emotion. Directed by deathofgian, the creator of a few Feid videos including “Chimbita” and graphic novel La Mafia, the “Nieve” video has an unclear narrative that plays into the track’s mystery and hypnotism.
The Colombian artist has had a busy few years with four studio albums since 2015 and his third release, FERXXO (VOL. 1: M.O.R), earning him a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Urban Music Album. Other frequent collaborators include Karol G, Sech, Sebastian Yatra, and J Balvin, whose 2015 hit “Ginza” was partially penned by Feid.
