WATCH: Daddy Yankee Officially Retires From Music

The “King of Reggaetón” is dropping the mic. On Sunday (March 20), Daddy Yankee officially announced that he is retiring from the music industry once his new album drops and he completes a final world tour.

“Today, I’m announcing my retirement from music by giving you my best production and my best concert tour,” Daddy Yankee said. “I will say goodbye celebrating these 32 years of our history with this new collector’s item, titled Legendaddy. I’m going to give you all the styles that have defined me, in one single album.”

Daddy Yankee teased his retirement earlier this year when he asked fans which countries he should visit on his last world tour.

Legendaddy, Daddy Yankee’s first studio album in a decade, is scheduled to hit March 24 at 8 p.m. ET. Daddy Yankee’s La Última Vuelta World Tour will begin August 10, 2022, in Portland, Oregon, and end in Mexico City on December 2, 2022. He will make tour stops in 41 cities, including visiting the countries of Honduras, Colombia, and Ecuador.

Born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, Daddy Yankee’s career broke out with his 2004 hit “Gasolina.” Over his career, he has reached the No. 1 spot on the Top Latin Albums chart six times and has won five Latin Grammys. Multiple artists have cited him as an inspirational artist for their own reggaetón career, including Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Natti Natasha, among others. Last year, Daddy Yankee was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Pre-sale tickets for La Última Vuelta World Tour will go on sale on March 25. Tickets for the general public will be available starting March 30.
