VTSS offers up high-octane playlist ahead of III Points Festival set in Miami
VTSS’ ever-expanding musical catalogue follows a similar trajectory to her ability to dominate a pulsating dance floor; filled with unabashedly in-your-face pop records, eclectic 140 BPM warehouse shakers, and always refuting any expectations that surround a female artist.
In the past year, she’s shown that no genre cannot be conquered with a slew of releases, including Circulus Vitiosus, a four-track EP released on Ninja Tune, and most recently, a disco-pop leaning cut dubbed “Steady Pace” with everyone’s favourite DJ, Boys Noize.
After touring across Europe over the summer, VTSS is slated to embark on a series of North American shows, including her upcoming gig at Miami’s revered III Points Festival. Ahead of her Friday peak-hour timeslot on Richie Hawtin’s curated S3quenc3 stage, VTSS has curated a playlist of her favourite records, exclusively for Dancing Astronaut. As she approaches her upcoming gig, she offers a glimpse into the curation process of this short and sweet offering,
“The playlist contains my new single – a collab track with Boys Noize titled “Steady Pace” which for sure I will play at III Points. I’ve been really feeling classic hard house lately so I couldn’t skip few of my favorites in the genre like “The Jumper” – Mass Medium Remix (Hammer House) or “Concentrate” by BK & Andy Farley. With especially (around) techno club music getting faster and harder – playing a lot of hard house has been a good trick for me to keep the crowd entertained and engaged – without pushing the tempo too much and hardness of the sound.
Included as well tracks from a few friends and music acquaintances like LSDXOXO, Nova Cheq, Tzusing or WTCHCRFT – all four producers are what makes me still excited about club music.
I’m really looking forward to my set – haven’t been to III Points yet, heard the best things. Miami is also fun – it could be so extra and blunt, I love it.”
