This Week in Images: Lady Gaga Transforms and International Women’s Day Inspires

As part of a new series on Vogue, we’ll be documenting the images that best encapsulate the week past—from our own archive as well as pictures fresh off the runway.

This week began with the interview heard around the globe: Meghan Markle’s tell-all conversation with Oprah, and the subsequent royal rift that had the presses whirring on both sides of the pond. (Many noted the parallels to Princess Diana’s bombshell BBC Panorama interview in 1995.) Markle wasn’t the only celebrity to set social media ablaze, either. The first images from Ridley Scott’s upcoming crime thriller House of Gucci, starring Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, saw the film’s stars transform into the very picture of ’90s Italian glamour, with particular attention lavished upon Driver’s throwback cable knit sweater.

There were plenty of more au courant style moments happening too, as this season’s audience-free Paris Fashion Week drew to a close with spectacular shows from Dior and Louis Vuitton. For fashion followers on a budget, however, there was some even more exciting news: the launch of Simone Rocha’s much-anticipated collaboration with H&M, which saw most styles sell out in minutes. Finally, to mark International Women’s Day on Monday, a series of events and protests were held around the globe, providing an inspiring moment of hope after a tumultuous year for women’s rights. See the five images of the week below.
