These Celebrities Used Fashion to Encourage Voting

Over the past few weeks, it’s been impossible to check Instagram without seeing posts about voting, especially from celebrities. Many stars have used their platforms to encourage their fans to get out and head to the ballot boxes ahead of (or on) Election Day today. Since many of them are armed with millions of followers, the focus on voting is both practical and influential. And being that Instagram is a visual medium, they also busted out some great outfits to do so—because the only thing more fabulous than making your voice heard is by looking fabulous while doing it.

One of the most over-the-top voting fashion moments came from Katy Perry. The singer uploaded a video herself yesterday wearing a sweater dress and a giant “I Voted” headpiece, clapping and cheering cars on as they drove by. Another statement look ahead of the election came from the burlesque star Dita Von Teese, who wore a custom rainbow dress by Bree Billiter that read “You better vote” on the back of it. There were more candid style moments from stars, too. Both Jennifer Lopez and Katie Holmes were both spotted on the streets in “Vote” merch, while Diane Keaton wore a baseball cap that read, “Vote bitches.” Zendaya also posed at the mailbox, dropping off her ballot with her friend Darnell Appling.

In the fashion world, models also got in on flexing their voting-inspired fits. Bella Hadid cast her vote in New York City wearing a jacket from the buzzy collaboration between MM6 and The North Face. Sister Gigi Hadid took a mirror selfie in a “Vote” tee, while Hailey Bieber wore one that read, “Voting is hot.” Richie Shazam even posed in red, white, and blue—via a glamorous, glittery dress with stars all over it that is.
