Sofía Vergara Asks Court to Enforce Prenup with Joe Manganiello — Here’s the Latest

As Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello work on settling the terms of their divorce, the Modern Family star is asking the court to uphold their prenuptial agreement.

According to People magazine, Vergara requested that the prenup be enforced and that she receive confirmation that certain assets, including jewelry, artwork, and “other personal effects,” will remain her property.

Vergara also claims that she should be allowed to keep the money she earned before and during her marriage to Manganiello. Recently, Vergara responded to the divorce filing submitted by Manganiello by also citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce.

On July 17, Vergara and Manganiello released a joint statement announcing they were ending their marriage after seven years.

“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the couple said. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

A source told Page Six that, “Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”

This was Vergara’s second marriage and Joe Manganiello’s first. They did not have children together. Sofia Vergara has a 31-year-old son, Manolo, from her first marriage.

Recently, a friend of the couple told Page Six that “Sofía’s living her best life. She’s spending time with her friends after being stifled in a relationship with a largely unsupportive partner. Sofía was always there to take care of Joe, while his career was never what it was when they met. I think he’s been threatened by her success and joie de vivre.”
