Shakira Scores Her First-Ever Hot 100 Top 10 Debut With “BZRP Music Sessions #53”

It’s still Shakira season! Not only did her recent hit “BZRP Music Sessions #53” break Bad Bunny’s Spotify record as the most-streamed Latine artist, but it also gave the Colombian superstar her first-ever top 10 debut on the Hot 100 – and with a song in Spanish. Overall, this marks her fifth Hot 100 top 10, the last being her 2007 hit “Beautiful Liar” with Beyoncé.

The famous diss track debuted at No. 9 with 20.2 million streams, 7.9 million in airplay audience, and 9,000 sold, per Billboard. It also gave Bizarrap his first-ever top 10 on the Hot 100, following his “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52,” with Quevedo, which reached No. 79 last Oct.

As far as Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart goes, the track debuted at No. 1. Shakira is now tied with Bad Bunny for the fourth-most No. 1s to date; each artist with 12 songs charted to date. “BZRP Music Sessions #53” also landed at No. 2 on both Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts.

Besides “Beautiful Liar” in 2007, other previous Shakira hits that have climbed the Hot 100 top charts include: “Hips Don’t Lie,” featuring Wyclef Jean on No. 1 in 2006, “Underneath Your Clothes” on No. 9 in 2002, and “Whenever, Wherever” which landed on No. 6 in 2001.

Clearly, the catchy joint track has given both artists global recognition – and is continuing to do so. To this day, the music video has garnered over 199 million views on YouTube and is currently No. 2 on YouTube’s music section, following Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers.”

Following her last achievement as not only Spotify’s most-streamed Latine artist but allegedly the first Latina on Spotify with the most monthly listeners, the Colombian icon said: “I feel humbled and grateful though I’m only one among millions of women out there who have so much to say and offer. Women of all races, ages, and conditions. Thanks for your loyalty and support.”
