Rosalía Is Performing a Free Concert in Mexico City – Here’s What We Know
Rosalía is treating her fans in Mexico City to a special surprise. Today (Apr. 10), it was announced that the Spanish pop star will perform a free concert at El Zócalo later this month.
Though Rosalía’s Motomami Tour wrapped last Dec., she has continued to perform her show this year at various music festivals worldwide. Last month, she was a headliner at the AXE Ceremonia Festival in Mexico City. She will be returning to the country very shortly, as revealed by Claudia Sheinbaum, the Head of Government of Mexico City.
In a TikTok post, Sheinbaum announced the news of Rosalía’s free concert at El Zócalo. The Mexican politician receives a phone call, and the ringtone is Rosalía’s “Bizcochito,” which inspired many gum-chewing memes last year. When the song “Motomami” plays, Sheinbaum attempts motorcycle-inspired dance moves. “Arriba las Motomamis,” Sheinbaum wrote in the comments of her post.
Rosalía’s upcoming free concert has her fans excited about seeing her concert soon, which is taking place on Apr. 28 at 8 p.m. “Everyone in Starbucks is talking about la Rosalía at El Zócalo,” wrote one fan on Twitter. “No mamen, la Rosalía free at El Zócalo, I want to go,” wrote another fan.
This coming weekend and next week, Rosalía will also be performing at the Coachella music festival. Bad Bunny made history as the first Latine headliner of the event. There’s no word yet if Rosalía might join him to sing their hit collaboration “La Noche de Anoche” together.
One special guest who might pop up during Rosalía’s set is her fiancé Rauw Alejandro. Last month, the power couple dropped their joint EP RR. The three-song release included their single “Beso,” where they revealed their engagement in the music video. During Rauw’s Saturno World Tour stop in Puerto Rico recently, Rosalía joined him to perform “Beso” and “Vampiros” for the first time.
