Maybe because the bar had been set so low by last week’s Oscars – where everyone looked fine, or at best, nice – but last night’s red carpet at the 2022 Grammys was actually giving. Sure, it’s unlikely to go down in history as a particularly incredible or influential moment (looking at you, VMAs 1999), but there were more than a few lewks to salivate over. A big winner for the night was Versace, with poster girl Dua Lipa channelling that Liz Hurley moment in a classic BDSM dress, before she and collaborator Megan Thee Stallion were joined on stage by Donatella herself to recreate an iconic Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston spat. Elsewhere, Doja Cat got into a little Versassy of her own, too, as she walked the press gauntlet in sky blue, glass Coperni bag clutched in hand.
Meanwhile, plenty of celebs were thinking pink, with Billy Porter and Saweetie slipping into hot off the runway Valentino, as St. Vincent repped Gucci old-Hollywood style in one of Alessandro Michele’s glittering, feather-trimmed gowns. At the more goth-y end of the scale came winning Gen Z girlies Olivia Rodrigo, who went for black floor-length Vivienne Westwood with satin opera gloves (and later grungy Givenchy) , and Billie Eilish, who, IMHO, stole the show in full Rick Owens. Someone’s clearly been taking notes from Hunter Schafer. Scroll down for the best of the rest.
