Peso Pluma, Eslabon Armado & More Included on YouTube’s Top Songs of 2023

2023 was undoubtedly a huge year for música mexicana. The latest testament? As part of its full report of  trending topics for the year, YouTube unveiled its official Top Songs of 2023 in the U.S. on Dec. 4, naming Latine artists like Peso Pluma, Eslabon Armado, and Grupo Frontera in its top 10. Half of the top 10 music selections are by artists from our communities.

The online video platform revealed that Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma’s “Ella Baila Sola” ranked No. 3 on this year’s Top Songs list. But this wasn’t Peso Pluma’s only entry on the top list, also landing on No. 4 with Yng Lvcas for “La Bebe (Remix).” Fuerza Regida and Grupo Frontera’s “Bebe Dame” reached No. 6. “Calm Down” by Selena Gomez and Rema was also featured on the list at No. 7. Lastly, Carin León and Grupo Frontera took No. 8 with their joint track “QUE VUELVAS.”

As far as non-Latine artists go, Toosii’s “Favorite Song” reached No. 1. Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” joined the list at No. 2. Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” was No. 5, SZA’s “Snooze” was No. 9, and Lil Durk’s collaboration “All My Life” with J. Cole wrapped up the list at No. 10.

YouTube’s Top Songs are chosen based on nationwide views. Per the press release, the methodology is “based on in-country views of songs that debuted in 2023 or saw significant year-over-year growth. Including official music videos, lyric videos, and user-generated content.”

It’s no surprise that “Ella Baila Sola” is the top Latine pick on YouTube’s Top Songs. Throughout the year, the song has received major accolades, like two Latin Grammy nominations. It was also named Rolling Stone’s No. 1 song on their 100 Best Songs of 2023 list. If that’s not enough praise, it was part of Spotify’s Most-Streamed Songs Globally top five list at No. 5 and ranked No. 1 on their Most-Streamed Latin Songs Globally list.
