In a musical landscape currently dominated by the viral momentum of Cuban reparto, 25-year-old Havana native Melanie Santiler is choosing to go against the tide. A former 2025 #Billboard On the Radar Latin artist, Santiler has crafted a 10-track project that serves as a testament to her artistic evolution. The album draws inspiration from a diverse array of legends, including Rosalía, C. Tangana, Yomil y el Dany, Buena Vista Social Club, and Celia Cruz. A standout moment on the record is the collaboration with Carlos Varela on the track “Los Cisnes.” The song, which features a somber, minor-key rendition of the Cuban national anthem, serves as a poignant commentary on the current situation in her home country. “I’ve always used songs to speak my mind,” she explained. “This will always be my answer to any question about my country.”
