Megan Thee Stallion Remixed ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno’ at 2022 Oscars
There is no doubt that Disney’s Encanto was the center of the night at this year’s Oscars ceremony, from Sebastian Yatra’s emotive performance of “Dos Oruguitas” to winning multiple Oscars, including Best Animated Feature.
On top of that, this year’s ceremony included the first-ever live performance of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” featuring the original Encanto cast — but also… singers Luis Fonsi, Becky G, and Megan Thee Stallion. Megan performed a self-penned new verse to the viral hit.
The internet was divided by the remixed performance, with some loving Megan’s verse and appearance on the Oscars stage:
A user expressed their excitement at Megan’s appearance:
One user applauded Megan’s remix of the verse, and how she added her own flair to the track:
Another user pointed out the star-studded crowd’s reaction to Megan’s surprise appearance:
Others didn’t take so kindly to the inclusion of Megan, Luis, and Becky in this performance.
One user expressed confusion over the arrangement: “I mean, is this “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”? Or what? Why were Megan, Luis Fonsi, and Becky in the center if the main characters of the song had to be there?”
Another user memed their reaction, saying: “Me, watching Megan, Becky G, and Luis Fonsi ruin the presentation of “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and stealing the spotlight from Colombia”
Another user joined in on showing their distaste for the performance: “I still can’t get over them doing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” like that, what was the reason to force Megan, Fonsi, and Becky, nothing to do with [the song]”
