Mariah Carey singer

Mariah Carey Wowed the Crowd with a Spanish Song at LA Pride

Mariah Carey is one of the most successful pop singers of all time, but she also has a connection to Latin music. The diva revealed in 1999 that her father and grandfather were of Afro-Venezuelan descent, and that her original last name was changed to Carey when her grandfather immigrated to the US.

Since then, Carey has recorded some of her songs in Spanish, such as “Hero”, “My All” and “Open Arms”. She even released an EP in 2020 titled Mariah En Español, featuring seven of her Spanish versions.

On Saturday night (June 10), Carey performed at LA Pride, a celebration of LGBTQ+ culture and rights, and she had a special treat for her Latine fans. She sang the first part of her 1997 hit “My All” in Spanish, as “Mi Todo”. Before starting the song, she said: “Tonight’s something a little different. Let’s see how it works.”

The crowd cheered as Carey showed off her bilingual skills and her vocal range. The video of the moment went viral on social media, with many fans expressing their admiration and excitement for the singer.

Carey’s performance at LA Pride was also remarkable for other reasons. She sang some of her rare remixes, such as the Rainbow Interlude and three versions of “Fantasy”. She also looked stunning in a glittery silver dress and high heels.

Carey is not only a pop icon, but also a supporter of LGBTQ+ causes. She has received awards from GLAAD and The Trevor Project for her advocacy and allyship. She also dedicated her song “One Sweet Day” to the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting in 2016.
