Latin Grammy Awards 2021 Had Some Incredible Performances — Watch Them Here
Music award shows are the place to see collaborations we never dreamed of happening and performances that will make your jaw drop. The 22nd Latin GRAMMY Awards spent so long teasing collaborations and performances from some of the best Latin music stars and the show delivered. From the very beginning of the show, the stage was electric and it was clear that the singers knew what they had to do: rock the house.
Here’s who came through and left viewers hyped long after they left the stage.
1
Gloria Estefan Opening with Anitta
The show opened with the iconic Gloria Estefan taking the stage with several other performers to give the world a three-song medley of some of her hits. Anitta’s addition to the performance really put some gas on this fire. Fans were ecstatic when they saw the artistry and overtop moment she was able to bring to the Latin GRAMMY Awards.
2
Christina Aguilera and Her Muchachas
Christina Aguilera brought her signature sultry sound to the stage supported with her muchachas. The pop singer who is making a new Spanish-language album, was joined on stage by Nicki Nicole, Nathy Peluso, and Becky G to perform “Pa Mis Muchachas” and her new single “Somos Nada.” This is something we didn’t know we would see again since Xtina’s last appearance at the Latin GRAMMY Awards was in 2000.
3
Mon Laferte and Gloria Trevi
Mon Laferte used her performance to show off her baby bump. The singer first joined the stage wearing a large coat that obscured her body from the audience. It didn’t really cause any attention because that kind of look is in right now. When she was joined by Gloria Trevi, she really leaned into showing off her baby bump without the coat hiding any of her.
4
Yotuel, Descemer Bueno, El Funky, and Gente de Zona
Not only did the Cuban protest anthem “Patria Y Vida” win Song of the Year, but it was also performed by the artists who created it. Seeing the group of singers come together to perform together for the first time (other than making the music video) was a moment that Cuban viewers will not soon forget. They came ready to perform and the crowd’s reaction says it all.
5
Danna Paola
Danna Paola left it all on the stage when she performed “Calla Tú.” The actress and singer belted out her single like the professional she is and the moment stunned fans. Standing under a spotlight and a fan blowing her cape around, Paola looked like the kind of angsty punk girl we all have locked inside and we feel so seen.
6
Camilo
Camilo, in his trademark barefoot style, got the audience moving as he sauntered up and down the aisle. People got up on their feet to match the heartthrob’s lead as he performed “Vida de Rico” and “KESI” for the packed MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The mustachioed musician clearly had the time of his life as he danced and sang all over the venue.
7
Myke Towers, Jay Wheeler, and DJ Nelson
Myke Towers took the stage to sing his hit song “Pin Pin” and the performance was energetic and fun. The crowd really went wild when Jay Wheeler joined the singer and rapper to perform their song “La Curiosidad.” The moment was a point of pride for Puerto Rican viewers in awe of seeing two of their own taking control of the biggest stage and Latin music and doing the island proud.
