Kacey Musgraves and Troye Sivan’s “Easy” Video Is a Dive Bar Dream

Over the past few days, Troye Sivan has been teasing his latest release—a revamp of his track “Easy” from earlier this year, this time featuring Kacey Musgraves and Mark Ronson—through snippets of the video posted to his social media accounts. Fans were particularly intrigued by his bold new mullet. (You can take the boy out of Australia, it seems, but you can’t take Australia out of the boy.) And when the Bardia Zeinali-directed video finally dropped this morning, it provided a full-throttle dive bar fashion fantasy that will have you firmly pining after a post-lockdown night out on the tiles.

Beginning in a dimly-lit motel room, Sivan sits moodily while Musgraves tends to her newly-dyed hair in the bathroom. The pair set off into the Nashville night in a vintage car, like Bonnie and Clyde (minus, well, the crime). Stopping by a line-dancing class, an underground club where drag queen Jorgeous sings mournfully into her microphone on a lonely stage, and a neon-lit curb outside an adult toy store, the star of the show becomes the pair of wild looks the pair sport in the process.

For Sivan, this means a natty tank top with a short-sleeved Adidas zip-up and flared denim. In another scene, he wears a pair of ripped jean shorts pulled just below the waist to reveal a transfer tattoo reading “easy.” (Stylist Mel Ottenberg shared the look on his Instagram, and noted that the shorts were sourced from a New York vintage store.) Musgraves, meanwhile, sports a similarly outré look, featuring a spangly, white sequined mini dress, a thigh-skimming fur coat, and a pair of vertiginous high heels. In the final stretch of the video, Musgraves takes to the dive bar floor to perform a lap dance, dramatically dropping the fur coat to the floor in the process. Looks like a night out for the books.
