JLo Talks About Viral Brie Larson Interaction at 2024 Golden Globes
When Oscar winner Brie Larson (Room) expressed to Jennifer Lopez at the 2024 Golden Globes last Sunday (January 7) how much she meant to her growing up, it was a touching moment for the multi-hyphenate star.
During an interview on Apple Music 1’s The Zane Lowe Show, Lopez shared with the host how special the interaction with Larson was on the red carpet. Larson told Lopez the biopic Selena was the film that “made me want to be an actor” and complimented her work ethic.
“It brings tears to my eyes now because it’s very moving,” Lopez said. “You give your heart and soul … when you’re an artist. When I was looking at Brie … I saw her, and I was just staring in her eyes. She was so locked in with me and just like, ‘I have wanted to tell you this for so long.’”
Lopez said she knew where Larson was coming from because she felt the same way when she was a little girl and saw Rita Moreno perform in the 1961 musical West Side Story. During her short chat with Larson, Lopez remembered that little girl.
“I saw myself, and I saw the little girl,” JLo said. “To think that I did that for somebody was really overwhelming. It was very lovely to have an experience like that. I don’t think I ever imagined that I would have an experience like that with somebody who is so talented. It was a very kind thing that she did, and it meant a lot to me, probably even more than it did to her.”
