Jennifer Lawrence Returns to the Red Carpet at Dior Couture
In a 2017 cover interview with Vogue, Jennifer Lawrence noted that after earning three Oscar nominations and one win in the space of just five years, she was beginning to worry about the possibility of becoming overexposed. “The American public—the international public—will need a break from me,” she said, before adding with her typically pithy humor: “Even the aliens are annoyed.” As fully paid-up J-Law fans, we can’t say this is the case at our end.
All the same, the actor decided to spend the past two years largely away from the spotlight. Despite filming a few under-the-radar projects during lockdown—and, of course, making the most of her honeymoon period with gallerist Cooke Maroney, with whom she tied the knot in October 2019—Lawrence has mostly been keeping herself to herself.
But today, she made her first return to the red carpet in over 18 months—and with all the laid-back chic that has become her signature. What was it that drew Lawrence out of hiding? None other than the Christian Dior haute couture show, which was held earlier this afternoon, kicking off the first day of the fall 2021 couture collections in Paris.
To mark the occasion, Lawrence stepped out in a perfectly chic black-and-white polka dot dress, cinched with a belt emblazoned with the house’s classic “CD” logo, and black pumps with a bow detail. To complete the look, Lawrence opted for a pair of the brand’s butterfly-inspired sunglasses, making for a perfect finishing touch worthy of a film star. She might have been on hiatus from the red carpet, but J-Law, it’s great to have you back.
