Is DJ Khaled Working on a Reggeaton Album with Dímelo Flow?
More than ever, the crossover of mainstream pop sensations to reggaeton via collaborations is more widespread than most could fathom, and it could be the same for DJ Khaled. Who would he enlist in the Latine world? Signs are currently pointing to Dímelo Flow.
In a recent discussion aired on Aug. 20, DJ Khaled publicly admitted during a Drink Champs REVOLT interview that there was the possibility of creating a Latine album for his next big project. During the video interview, Khaled says, “One day, I want to make a whole Spanish album.”
So when Dímelo Flow met the Grammy award-winning hip-hop producer at the BMI Awards in Miami, FL, on Sep. 7, the potential Latine album started to fall into place after the Rich Music producer shared his thoughts on social media.
On Dímelo Flow’s recent Instagram post, he shared a video of the two sharing a hug while they converse. Flow wrote in the caption, “quiere hacer un disco de reggaeton y yo estoy ready (he wants to make a reggaeton album and I’m ready).”
With fans in the comments ecstatic over the post, one Instagram user says, “I too, am ready for this.” And with hundreds of other fans posting their love and excitement over this future and possible collaboration in the works.
In a statement to Remezcla, Dímelo Flow said the pair had already “set some things in motion.” “I’m more than ready to collaborate with him if he makes his reggaetón album a reality,” he says. “I know he respects Latin culture a lot, and I can help give his project an extra perspective to make it as authentic as possible.”
The Panamanian producer is no outsider to collaborative projects, as he recently released his first album Always Dream, alongside today’s most renowned Latine artists like J Balvin, Anitta, Ozuna, Nicky Jam, and many more. The album surpassed 13 million streams on Spotify and charted in the top 10 Latin Rhythm Albums on Billboard. He also teamed up with Diplo for an event back in Aug., showing a slight glimpse of what could come out of the two in terms of collaborations.
Could this ultimately mean a full-length collaboration on DJ Khaled’s Spanish album or a single with Dímelo Flow in the future? We hope so.
