Internet Is Trying To Make Jane Fonda & JLo Rivalry Real, but Here’s Why It’s Not

It appears the internet can’t decide if two-time Oscar-winning actress Jane Fonda (Coming Home) was joking around when she recently told Drew Barrymore a story about a physically painful experience she experienced on the set of the 2005 romantic comedy Monster in Law.

During an interview with Barrymore on her eponymous daytime talk show, Fonda shared an anecdote from the set during a scene where she and Lopez trade countless slaps to each other’s faces. During the scene, Fonda said Lopez accidentally cut her with a ring she wore.

“We have a slapping scene,” Fonda recalls. “I slap her. She slaps me. Well, Jennifer, as per Jennifer, she had this enormous diamond ring. So, when she slapped me one of the times, it cut open across my eyebrow. She’s never apologized.”

The last part of her comment got a laugh from the studio audience and made Barrymore put her hands to her face in shock. Whether it was true that Lopez failed to apologize for breaking skin didn’t matter. The internet ran with it like it was a fact.

The truth is, Fonda has been telling that story for years. Lopez and Fonda have been friends since they met.

Fonda even told the story during her speech at Lopez’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2013.

Lopez had also mentioned the story before and said it was a blister that Fonda had above her eye that Lopez accidentally poked with her fingernail.

If you look at the movie scene, Lopez is wearing a pair of long bridal gloves, so who knows what caused the cut, but we’re sure there’s no bad blood between the two divas.
