Here’s a Glimpse Into the Life of Famed Venezuelan Flamenco Dancer Siudy Garrido

In the documentary film Siudy Between Worlds, 50 Performances of the American Dream, Venezuelan director Pablo Croce (Salsa Giants) follows famed Venezuelan flamenco dancer Siudy Garrido and her dance troupe as they bring their production Entre Mundos (Between Worlds) to New York City for a month-long run.

Currently, Garrido is the artistic director of the Miami-based Siudy Flamenco Dance Theater Inc. She got her start in dance at the age of five in her home country of Venezuela. Garrido moved to Spain at the age of 15 to study with dance instructors like Ciro, El Güito, Maria Magdalena, La China and Milagros Menjibar.

During her professional career, Garrido has performed with and choreographed for several well-known entities, including the Pittsburgh Opera, Miami Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Chamber Orchestra, and was invited to teach flamenco workshops with the renowned Cirque du Soleil.

During the film’s trailer, viewers get a glimpse of Garrido’s masterful footwork and the energy and passion she puts into every step of her routine.

“Think about the work it takes to get [to New York City],” Garrido says in Spanish during the trailer. “A three-year creative process to be able to show as transparently as possible what we do and what we believe in.”

Siudy Between Worlds premiered last year at the Miami Film Festival and went on to win awards at the Documentaries Without Borders Film Festival, New York Movie Awards, Oklahoma Cine Latino Film Festival and the South Texas International Film Festival.
