Gucci gang forever

Harry Styles and Billie Eilish are both longtime Gucci aficionados, so it should come as no surprise that the two stars rocked up to the Grammys wearing custom looks courtesy of Alessandro Michele tonight (March 15).

Having missed out on the best video award for “Adore You” to Beyoncé and youngest ever Grammy winner Blue Ivy, Styles opened the show with a swaggering rendition of “Watermelon Sugar” – featuring none other than Dev Hynes on bass.

Styled by Harry Lambert – who was also behind Styles’ internet-breaking Vogue cover – the singer’s look brought together a slick leather suit sans shirt and a shaggy, sage green accoutrement that sat somewhere between scarf and feather boa, and further cemented his status as 2021’s answer to Mick Jagger.

Later, Styles switched his leather combo for a boxy plaid jacket, a pair of burgundy cords, and yet another fuzzy scarf, this time in lilac, which gave off some pretty heavy Clueless vibes. “It’s crazy to think someone that talented and handsome is from the same place as Boris Johnson,” host Trevor Noah joked as the performance came to a close, and seriously, never did a statement hit quite so hard.

Following closely behind Styles came Eilish, who was also on the line-up to perform. Landing on the red carpet in a sketchy Gucci look accessorised with a bucket hat and face mask – we stan a responsible queen – she stepped onto the stage in a quilted, bottle green jacket with crystal embellishment and matching trousers, with the whole thing finished off with a 20s-inspired jewelled headpiece.

Singing a gut-wrenching rendition of her track “everything i wanted”, Eilish is up for three awards tonight. Stay tuned to see if she gets to add them to her already heaving display cabinet.
