Gloria Trevi Releases First Album in 3 Years, ‘Isla Divina’
The emblematic Mexican artist Gloria Trevi released her newest album Isla Divina on April 28, ahead of her upcoming 40-date tour throughout the U.S. Her 13th album, Isla Divina is a moment of reflection and highlights Trevi’s ability to execute musical diversity. Throughout the 12-track LP, she experiments with newer concepts like EDM and flamenco-infused beats but doesn’t leave out the pop tracks and power ballads she’s known for.
“‘Isla Divina’s concept was inspired by the on-going effects of the pandemic, and delivers a positive message meant to fill hearts with hope, peace and love,” the album’s press release states. “‘Isla Divina’ is meant to transport you to a worry-free world where you can connect with your emotions through each track, creating your very own ‘soundtrack to life.’”
Throughout the album, we hear different sides of the “Todos Me Miran” singer’s diverse musicality. With the opening pop beat of “Sube,” we are transported to a euphoric paradise that encapsulates her island theme. On “Perfume,” Trevi takes us back to ‘90s pop, all while tackling a relatable subject that people deal with being the “shy” one of the family (including being the one taking care of your parents if you’re the last one married). Other standouts of Isla Divinaa include the emotional and personal ballads of “Soy Lo Que Soy,” the newest single and video “Él Se Equivocó,” and “Demasiado Frágiles.” Additionally, with “Matemáticas” she shows an edgier, alternative side of her.
Recently, the “Pelo Suelto” singer also performed her infectious single “La Recaída” at the Latin American Music Awards. With this album release, Trevi is ready to embark on her U.S. leg of her Isla Divina World Tour 2020. One of the historical moments awaiting her is returning to Coliseo de Puerto Rico on Aug. 13 for opening night. Will you be seeing her perform live during this new tour?
La Isla is out now on all digital streaming platforms.
