The iconic skate brand joins forces with Mercedes’ racing division on a clothing collection and one-off car design

Be it Devon Aoki in Too Fast Too Furious or Jeremy Clarkson in Top Gear, Palace’s latest collaboration with Mercedes-AMG is an ode to the petrolhead. And while it may seem at odds for a skate brand and a motor megalith to park their respective vehicles and collaborate on a fashion collection, very little unites the two worlds more than the adrenaline rush of a damn good lewk.

Inspired by the raw, beast-like power of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 racing car, Palace has built a collection, dubbed, Get Sehr Fast, on the combined principles of “performance, speed, and cool outfits”. That means leather-sleeved racing jackets, hoodies, nylon tracksuits, leather bags, and technical Gore-Tex shells – uniting the nonchalance of skate kids with the high-octane, insignia-heavy world of motorsports.

Of all Palace’s collaborations (of which, we all know, there are plenty) never has the label designed its own livery – the specific paint scheme and sticker design used on racing cars – which will get an IRL debut on the legendary Nürburgring racetrack this June during the ADAC 24 hours race. And from car bonnet to colour blocks, the same deep purples, fluorescent oranges, and tarmac blacks of Palace’s racing car are blasted across the collection itself, too.

“We love working with the best in their field and AMG are exactly that,” Palace says. “We are so proud to be racing a car in such a great motorsport institution”. To mark the occasion, Palace and Mercedes-AMG have reimagined the iconographic handwriting of auto-racing with a dual spliced logo, which is splattered across the capsule on leather driving gloves and beanies alike.

An accompanying film by Austin Bristow showcases Palace’s racer careening down the Nürburgring track, while onlookers rubberneck in bewilderment and a sabre-toothed white tiger bellows into the distance. As the brand puts it, it “marries the relentless speed of endurance racing with Palace’s relentless pursuit of lols”.

The collection is available in-store and online from Friday June 4. Until then, watch Palace and Mercedes-AMG’s berserk video campaign below.
