Following its SS22 show, the label got together with Dazed and Soho House for a dinner party overlooking the NY skyline

Collina Strada’s SS22 ready-to-wear show kicked off NYFW’s long-awaited return to in-person shows on Tuesday. To celebrate, Hillary Taymour joined forces with Dazed and Soho House to throw an intimate post-show dinner party. Hosted by Dazed’s Editorial Director Lynette Nylander and Soho House’s content director Alicia Gutierrez, the event brought together Collina Strada’s oddball family for an intimate, rhinestone-festooned night on New York’s DUMBO House Terrace. Here’s what went down.

THE PARTY FOLLOWED THE SS22 SHOW

…which opened up NYFW. Set at Brooklyn Grange’s rooftop farm at sunset, Collina’s models walked the runway two-by-two while plucking carrots from the ground, sprinting down the runway, waving, laughing, and hugging. The collection – worn by models of different ethnicities, ages, genders, and abilities – combined elements of the natural world with today’s chaos, including horse-head and beetle corsets, floaty dresses, and asymmetrical bodysuits. Looks were topped off with appropriately kitsch accessories – sunflower cross-body bags and brightly coloured “Get Well Soon” arm slings.

ECO-FRIENDLY FLOWERS AND Y2K HITS SET THE MOOD

Following the show, guests were brought to the DUMBO roof terrace where the gloam of Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Island was just beginning to break through its windows – a glittering celebration of fashion week’s return to The Big Apple. Meanwhile, tables were adorned with Brrch Floral’s whimsical flower arrangements, which featured deadstock fabrics and rhinestones for zero-waste decor. The mood was set with music by DJ Oscar Nñ – the co-founder of NYC’s Papi Juice art collective which champions queer and Trans POC. Trading in the runway show’s “Happy” remix loop for Y2K hits, Nñ notably blasted “All the Small Things” by Blink 182 at the after party… we’re here for it.

…ALONG WITH A CURATED MENU OF FOOD

Guests sipped on lemon and vodka cocktails, while an assortment of spicy fried chicken, meatballs, bolognese, calamari, roasted cauliflower, caesar salad, and chocolate chip cookies were offered up for their eating delights.

THE WHOLE COLLINA CREW SHOWED UP

Including Tommy Dorfman, who documented the night via a Dazed Fashion IG takeover; models Ruby Aldridge, Hari Nef, Paloma Elsesser, and Richie Shazam, musicians TygaPaw, Oyinda, Dorian Electra, and Hawa; influencer Courtney Trop; curator and writer Kimberly Drew; and artist Chloe Wise.

THE NIGHT ENDED WITH A BIRTHDAY SURPRISE

Besides the regular after party festivities (and, apparently, a whole lot of laughter from Tommy Dorfman and her pal Hari Nef at the table), the night closed off with a birthday surprise for Dazed’s Lynette Nylander who was presented with a Matilda-style chocolate cake, while the whole Collina Strada family burst into a rapturous rendition of happy birthday. For reasons unbeknown to us, Taymour offered Nylander a head of lettuce, which had previously been placed elegantly on the table. Farm to table fashion!
