Christina Aguilera Is Set to Release Next Spanish-Language EP
Earlier this year, Christina Aguilera committed to releasing three EPs this year — and she’s keeping that promise. The Ecuadorian-American singer recently announced the second EP slotted to be released from her Spanish-language trilogy. While we don’t have a release date just yet, we do have a title and the announcement of a first single. Xtina is teaming up with Argentinian-born singer TINI on the first single off the EP, La Tormenta, called “Suéltame.”
In Jan. 2022, the world received Aguilera’s first Spanish-language project since her album from 2000, Mi Reflejo, called La Fuerza. The EP debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Latin Pop Albums, and two songs from the project — “Pa’ Mis Muchachas” with Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Nathy Peluso and “Santo” with Ozuna — charted on the Hot Latin Songs chart. For the EP, she showcased her stunning vocals in different musical styles, including the showstopping “La Reina,” which recently got the music video treatment.
After La Fuerza’s release, she did an online press conference with various Latine media outlets to answer questions about her music. When speaking about Mi Reflejo, she said, “‘Mi Reflejo’ [was] a beautiful, special time in my life, but it was 20 plus years ago when I was just coming on the scene.” She continued, “I was baby Christina, and 20 years later, I’m a grown woman who has had an incredible career. Now I get to come back having reflected on that.”
She explained that when making this new era of music, she wanted to give them their time to shine on their own, thus culminating in the idea to release three EPs instead of just one album. Xtina is no stranger to sharing personal tidbits about her life through her music, but fans can expect to hear a bit more about her father, one topic she doesn’t address often. “I’m coming from a place where I’m making peace with certain parts of my past,” she said during the conference.
Seeing Aguilera blast through different eras in her career, it’ll be exciting to see the different sounds she chooses to experiment with on her second and third EPs due later this year.
