Cast of ‘Rebelde’ Reboot Goes Old-School with First Music Video
A music video for the reboot of Rebelde on Netflix was released, and the new cast is taking it back old-school style.
In the video, the new generation of Elite Way School students sing the title track from the original RBD group’s first album, 2004’s Rebelde, which hit No. 1 on the charts in Mexico, Brazil, and Spain and No. 2 on the U.S. Latin charts.
“Are you a rebel, or do you think the same as yesterday?” the official Instagram profile asks.
The music video begins with Azul Guaita at a school locker where she kicks off the song in the same way Anahí did 17 years ago: “While my mind travels to where you are, my father yells again…” she sings.
Jeronimo Cantillo walks down the hall singing the next verse, which Alfonso Herrera originally sang. He’s followed by Andrea Chaparro, who joins in while sitting on some steps inside the school.
The camera then cuts to the entire cast singing the chorus of the song, “Y soy rebelde” (“I am rebellious”), while dressed in their school uniforms and other trendy outfits. Cantillo in the leopard print jacket is a fashion moment we didn’t know we needed.
Other cast members in the music video are Sergio Mayer Mori, Franco Masini, Lizeth Selene, Alejandro Puente and Giovanna Grigio. Selene, who is playing the character Andi, posted a message of excitement along with the video on her Instagram page.
“Ahhhhh!!!! We finally came out with the rebel video,” she wrote. “We did it with a lot of love and passion; hoping you guys feel it too.”
The new version of Rebelde will premiere on March 1, 2022, on Netflix.
