Cardi B Approves ‘WAP’-Inspired PSA ‘Wear A Mask’

Students from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health shared their creative and informative take on Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s 2020 hit “WAP,” to which the new reality star tweeted her approval.

The students at John Hopkins created the public service announcement to encourage proper mask wearing as COVID-19 cases increase this holiday season. With COVID-19 cases soaring nationally, Noah Johnson, a senior computer science major who appears in the video told The Baltimore Sun, that “at the very least, I hope that people who are wearing masks get a good laugh out of it because, you know, we’re living in kind of a bleak time. I hope that people can see that there’s still fun to be had, and they’ll smile at the video.”

“Yeah I’m asking that you wear a mask please / When you’re going to the shop you’ve got to wear a mask please” starts the parody and follows with verses geared to protecting oneself against the virus by wearing a mask. “Don’t just hold it like a prop/ You’ve got to wear a mask please/ Put it on, let it match your clothes/ Rock the science with a pose/ With the mask right on your face/ So it covers your mouth and nose.”

Cardi B’s response “sksksksk” means OMG or “I can’t even” (for those who don’t have a teenager at home), which means she found it just as funny and useful as the rest of us!
