Barbie Ferreira Joining Remake of This Cult Classic Horror Movie

Barbie Ferreira (Euphoria) has boarded the remake of the 1978 cult horror movie Faces of Death, which surged in popularity during the VHS era in the 1980s.

Faces of Death was marketed to audiences as a movie that contained real-life death scenes, including animal attacks, shootings, and suicides, although it was later revealed that the deaths were staged. It was banned and censored in many countries during this time, including the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Germany, which lifted its ban last year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the remake will be written and directed by Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber, the duo behind the 2018 psychological horror film Cam. Joining Ferreira in the cast so far is Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things).

Faces of Death was one of the first viral video tapes, and we are so lucky to be able to use it as a jumping off point for this exploration of cycles of violence and the way they perpetuate themselves online,” Mazzei and Goldhaber said in a statement.

The remake is being made by Legendary, which produced several horror movies in the past, including Trick ‘r Treat, Dracula Untold, and the 2022 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

“Here we go!!” Ferreira wrote on Instagram along with a screenshot of the article from THR.

Barbie Ferreira shot another horror movie last summer for Amazon Studios and Blumhouse Television called House of Spoils alongside Oscar winner Ariana DeBose (West Side Story). The film follows a chef who is haunted by the spirit of her restaurant’s previous owner.
