Bad Bunny, Karol G, Christian Nodal & More Win Big at Premio Lo Nuestro

The 34th edition of the Premio Lo Nuestro, organized by Univisión, gave way to a beautiful ceremony, celebrating the creations of Latine music and standing as history in the making. The night had many big winners, yet nobody was more triumphant than Bad Bunny. He snagged six awards in total — not to mention his reign as Lo Nuestro’s Artist of the Year.

Although the “Yo Perreo Sola” king was lost in attendance since he’s currently performing his L.A. dates on the El Ultimo Del Mundo U.S. tour stretch, Benito cleaned house. He won Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and even Perfect Mix of the Year for “Volví” with Aventura. And yes, if you’re wondering, “Volví” has been on repeat since its drop last summer.

Aside from Bad Bunny’s wins, seven nominees were tied for second place. Karol G, Camilo, J Balvin, Christian Nodal, CNCO, Caliber 50, and Grupo Firme all took home three awards each. Among the wins, Karol G snagged Song of the Year, Urban Song of the Year for “BICHOTA,” and Urban Female Artist of the Year, making it her fourth win in the Urban Female category. Not to mention the Colombian artist stood as the only female among the leading nominees of the night.

Calibre 50 walked away with wins in Mexican Regional Norteña and Mariachi Song of the Year. Highly decorated at the Latin Grammy’s last year, Colombian artist Camilo won Solo Artist of the Year, Pop/Ballad, and Tropical Song of the Year. But of course, Christian Nodal walked away with two winnings, with Regional Mexican Artist of the Year, and Regional Mexican Collab of the Year with “Botella Tras Botella” featuring Gera MX.

CNCO was the main headliner in the Pop category in the bands’ section, winning three awards for Best Song, Best Group, and Pop album. The group thanked the crowd from the stage, saying, “This happened thanks to you, from the people who support us. This is from you. Thank you very much for the love you have given us from the beginning. It is something that we will not forget. We love you!”

Lastly, Ángela Aguilar and El Alfa were considered Revelation Artists of the Year, with special prizes going to Paulina Rubio, awarded for her career, Farruko as Urban Excellence, and Maluma as a Global Idol, being an emotional moment of the night.

“I want to dedicate this to the new generation that has been making music regardless of the genre. Be it reggaeton, pop, rock… What’s worth it is to keep dreaming and knowing that those dreams are going to come true,” Maluma spoke on the misconceptions folks have about his home country during his speech. “Colombia is not drug trafficking. There is a lot of talent in this country, as well as too many good things in Latin America.” Joined by fellow Colombianos Blessd and Kapal y Milky on stage, they wore a T-shirt with the slogan: “Medallo on the map. More music, less violence.”
