Armand Van Helden, Benny Benassi & More DJs Remix Feid’s “Nieve”
Feid is continuing to explore dance music. Last night (Sept. 28), the Colombian singer released remixes of his song “Nieve” by EDM acts like Armand Van Helden, Benny Benassi, and Good Times Ahead.
Feid originally released “Nieve” back in Mar., marking his first time experimenting with electronic music. The deep house-influenced song was a departure from the sentimental reggaeton that his fans were used to hearing from him. Feid flexed another side to his artistry with the trippy dance track.
Now, Feid is using “Nieve” to delve further into the dance music scene. He released a five-track EP of remixes that were done by established and rising EDM acts. Feid handled the A&R process himself alongside Universal Music Latino’s Albert Piedrahita. The EP opens with a house remix by Latine producers Good Times Ahead. Feid actually previewed the remix by duo Julio Mejía and Matt Toth during his Ferxxo Nitro Jam concerts in Medellín earlier this month.
The “Nieve” EP then moves into the genre’s heavy hitters with Armand Van Helden and Benny Benassi’s remixes back-to-back. Van Helden added a rave-ready spin to “Nieve” while Benassi revisited the bounce of ‘90s house music.
The most interesting remix is the one by Henry Fong. He gave “Nieve” a grimy U.K. garage house makeover. The EP is rounded out by Nick León’s dreamy remix. León was one of the producers behind Rosalía’s genre-bending song “Diablo” from her MOTOMAMI album.
Despite his album leaking early this month, Feid is having a breakthrough moment in his career. This week, Feid entered the top 10 of Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart for the first time with Feliz Cumpleanos Ferxxo Te Pirateamos El Album. The LP was certified gold after its first week out, debuting on the Billboard 200 chart at No. 188.
