Fuerza Regida: The New Era of Música Mexicana

On a humid August afternoon, as storm clouds gathered over Manhattan, a quintet of artists who looked as if they had just stepped out of The Matrix approached the Vessel at Hudson Yards. Against the backdrop of the structure’s blue lights and fire-red glow, the members of Fuerza Regida posed with a dead-serious intensity, clad in black leather, metallic accessories, and signature Mexican cowboy boots.

This is the essence of the San Bernardino-based group, a collective that has spent years stretching the boundaries of corridos tumbados. By infusing their sound with the bravado of SoCal gangster rap and experimental, club-oriented production, they have carved out a unique space in the industry. Jesús Ortiz Paz, the group’s charismatic frontman known as JOP, surveyed the futuristic geometry of the Vessel with approval, noting, “It’s what we’re on right now.”

The Vessel serves as a fitting metaphor for the band’s trajectory. As they prepare for their next era—rumored to be titled 2032—the group is experiencing its most significant expansion to date. Having just concluded a massive U.S. stadium tour that grossed over $53 million and sold out nine venues, their influence is undeniable.

The group’s ability to bridge the gap between traditional roots and modern, high-octane performance has solidified their status as leaders in the Latin music scene. As they look toward the future, the members of Fuerza Regida continue to push the envelope, proving that their blend of tradition and innovation is exactly what the current musical landscape demands.
