Maná to Headline FIFA World Cup 2026 Halftime Show in Mexico

The legendary rock band Maná is set to return to the historic Estadio Ciudad de México (formerly Estadio Azteca) on Sunday, July 5, to deliver a high-energy halftime show. The performance will take place during a pivotal 2026 World Cup match, where Mexico and England will compete for a coveted spot in the quarterfinals of the world’s most celebrated sporting event.

The band officially confirmed the news on Friday night, July 3, via social media. “See you Sunday at halftime. Get ready to sing at the top of your lungs. Let it be heard all the way to England,” the group shared in their announcement, building anticipation for what promises to be a career-defining moment.

A Historic Run at the World Cup

This performance marks the conclusion of Maná’s significant involvement in the FIFA World Cup 2026. The quartet—comprising lead singer Fher Olvera, guitarist Sergio Vallín, bassist Juan Calleros, and drummer Álex González—previously captivated a global audience of approximately 1.1 billion viewers during the tournament’s opening ceremony on June 11. They shared the stage with international superstars including Shakira, Burna Boy, J Balvin, and Lila Downs.

The halftime show announcement follows a spirited exchange between Fher Olvera and Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. After Gallagher predicted a 5-0 victory for England, Olvera responded in a viral video, draped in the Mexican flag, telling the singer to “calm down” and promising that the match would be a much closer contest.

Celebrating Four Decades of Music

Beyond their World Cup appearances, Maná continues to celebrate four decades of musical excellence. The band recently held a massive free concert in their hometown of Guadalajara, drawing an estimated 170,000 fans to the Glorieta de la Minerva monument. This milestone is part of their ongoing Vivir Sin Aire Tour, which includes upcoming stadium dates across South America before concluding with two shows at the Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City this December.

With over 50 million records sold and numerous Grammy and Latin Grammy awards to their name, Maná remains a cornerstone of the global music landscape. Earlier this year, Billboard recognized their enduring influence, ranking the quartet at No. 9 on its list of The 50 Best Latin Rock Bands of All Time.
