Kapo, Edén Muñoz & Sony Music Publishing Win Big at 2026 SESAC Latina Music Awards

Kapo, Edén Muñoz, and Sony Music Publishing emerged as the top honorees at the 2026 SESAC Latina Music Awards, held Wednesday (May 27) at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. The annual ceremony served as a vibrant celebration of the global impact and creative achievements of the Latin music community’s most influential songwriters and publishers.

In a career-defining moment, Kapo was named pop/Latin rhythm songwriter of the year. This recognition follows a string of successful collaborations, including “Más Que Tú” with Ozuna, “Imagínate” with Danny Ocean, and “Luna” with Wisin. Meanwhile, Edén Muñoz secured the regional Mexican songwriter of the year title for the fifth time, bolstered by the success of his track “Lejos Estamos Mejor,” which also claimed the award for regional Mexican song of the year.

The pop/Latin rhythm song of the year honor went to “En Privado,” a bachata-infused hit written by Manuel Turizo and Kemzo. Published by MTZ Publishing, La Industria Music Publishing, and Sony Sounds, the track—featured on Xavi’s 2026 album Dosis—dominated the airwaves, reaching No. 1 on both Billboard‘s Latin Airplay and Tropical Airplay charts.

Sony Music Publishing solidified its industry dominance by taking home the publisher of the year award across both categories, totaling 13 winning songs throughout the evening.

Celeste Zendejas, svp of SESAC Latina, echoed these sentiments, noting the organization’s pride in recognizing the creators whose work continues to shape global culture. The evening also featured a live performance by Kapo, who further cemented his status as a rising force in the Spanish-language Afrobeats genre.
