Duelo Kicks Off ‘Gravedad’ Tour: A New Chapter for Norteño Music
Duelo, one of the most influential Tejano norteño music groups, is set to embark on their highly anticipated Gravedad Tour. Kicking off this Friday, May 1, the tour will span 25 cities across the United States, keeping the group on the road through November 28. Promoted by Live Nation, the trek begins at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio and includes stops in California, Florida, Nevada, Tennessee, North Carolina, Arizona, and Illinois.
For the group, this tour represents a significant milestone. “With Live Nation, we are working together for the first time,” says Oscar Iván Treviño, the group’s vocalist and leader. “It’s a source of pride that such an important company is focusing on us to accomplish big things like this tour.”
The tour also includes key performances in Mexico, such as the Palenque de Aguascalientes, the Palenque de León, and the Arena Ciudad de México. The momentum behind the tour follows a major career shift for the band. In January, Duelo signed a partnership with Warner Music México after more than a decade of independence. Their first single under this new deal, “Te Cura El Tiempo,” recently climbed to the top of the #Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart, marking their fifth No. 1 hit.
“A milestone like this after two and a half decades of career is very important to me,” Treviño adds. “We’ve had strong chart positions over the years, but after many years without a No. 1, it finally came.”
Looking toward the future of the genre, Treviño remains optimistic but calls for more representation. “Norteño music will continue to be a core part of #LatinMusic,” he reflects. “But I do think there should be a lot more young artists making this music. There’s an opportunity to grow within the genre. It’s a matter of working hard and giving it your all, just like institutions such as Ramón Ayala have done.”
Duelo is currently preparing to release their first album under their new label at the end of May. Fans can find full tour dates and ticket information on the group’s official website.
