Eiza González Responds to Racism Allegations Against Costar

Eiza González is leaving no room for confusion on this particular subject. The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare actress has responded to allegations of racism. This comes after a video from her recent movie red carpet went viral. In the video, González is seen turning to Henry Cavill and, according to at least one user, dismissing Nigerian actor Babs Olusanmokun.

The original user accusing González has since deleted his account and the tweet. Still, the internet never forgets, and fans are tracing the user back to toxic fan culture and the attempt to pit female artists against each other.

González, however, didn’t just let the fans come to her defense in this one. When it comes to such serious matters, she took on the defense herself, responding to the user in Spanish with “good attempt to try to destroy a person’s integrity” before going on to explain what happened.

“Babs is a great friend, so much of a friend that we arrived at the event together. This 3-second video is us lining up to take a cast photo, Henry was arriving and we both congratulated him on his baby. Babs and I had been there together for 30 minutes,” the actress explained.

She went on to add, “It should be noted that you made it an issue of race. That says a lot more about you than it does about me. It is a shame that people talk about a person’s race at this time. Especially when we are a minority. You should be ashamed of this tweet since it’s a reflection of how you think. Greetings from us. Proud to be starting these kinds of conversations in 2024.”

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, starring Eiza González, is now in theaters.
