Riordan puts the ‘Needle on the Record’ to clinch Beatport No. 1
Riordan puts the “Needle on the Record” on his debut Realm Records release — a full-circle moment for the UK house DJ/producer whose first dance/electronic show just happened to be Gorgon City.
“This song idea actually started when my Dad sent me the original Needle On The Record track from the ’80s, suggesting that the vocal had potential to be made into something new. I had just come back from my first Miami Music Week and was full of inspiration so the ideas started flowing immediately,” Riordan said. “But this song taught me that good things come to those who wait. It was six months and seven versions of the song later when I finally felt like I had nailed it. That’s the longest it has ever taken me to finish a track, but it was worth it. I sent it to Realm immediately knowing that it was the perfect home for it, and everything seemed to fall into place.”
The UKG-inspired track, laden with classic garage breakbeats and gritty synths, has charged through the club circuit of late and now makes its way to digital streaming platforms after picking up co-signs from industry it producers like Mau P, Gorgon City themselves, and Kyle Watson, among others. “Needle on the Record” extends the early glimmer of Riordan’s talent demonstrated by his breakout single, the Latin-inspired “No Halo Espanol” (2022). With another viral hit, “Reflection,” and a collaboration with Wax Motif, “La Samba” in the rearview, with “Needle on the Record,” Riordan notably notches a No. 1 on Beatport’s Tech House chart, a sign, invariably, of more success soon to come.
Stream “Needle on the Record” now via Realm Records.
