WATCH: Peso Pluma Performs New Version of “LADY GAGA” at 2023 MTV VMAs

Peso Pluma left his mark at this year’s 2023 MTV VMAs (Video Music Awards). On Sept. 12, the Mexican artist performed “LADY GAGA” from his recent album GÉNESIS.

The highly-anticipated performance started in a never-before-seen way. Instead of getting straight to the tune’s original hard-hitting strings, The artist switched it up with a menacing orchestra of violins. After the surprising blue-hued intro, the strings gracefully transitioned to “LADY GAGA”’s melody, inviting the track’s signature guitar strings to take over.

Lights shot up from the circular stage as Peso Pluma sang in the center, surrounded by his bandmates. Peso Pluma, decked out in an all-black outfit with a distinctive black puffer vest, shades, and gloves, commanded the stage with his presence. He showed off his energy by moving across the stage and interacting with his bandmates throughout the performance. At the end of his performance, he yelled: “[Y] arriba México, viejo!” Furthermore, he made history by becoming the first-ever música mexicana artist to hit the VMAs stage.

Online users are thrilled about the performance. A social media user wrote: “taylor swift shaking her head to the rhythm of lady gaga de PESO PLUMA this is another level of CINEMA 🚬 viva mi gente latino my best crossover.” Another social media user commented: “peso pluma performing lady gaga @VMAS is crazyyyy.”

Peso Pluma received three nominations for the MTV VMAs this year. He was nominated for Best Latin for “Ella Baila Sola” with Eslabon Armado, Song of the Summer for “La Bebe (Remix)” with Yng Lvcas, and Best New Artist.

Moreover, the “QLONA” singer is currently on his Doble P Tour. His next scheduled tour dates include Reno, NV (Sept. 28), Chula Vista, CA, (Sept. 30), Stockton, CA, (Oct. 12), San Jose, CA (Oct. 13), and San Bernardino, CA (Oct. 15).
