WATCH: ‘Mayans M.C.’ Prepares for Final Season with Chilling Teaser Trailer
The first teaser trailer for the fifth season of Mayans M.C. dropped Thursday (March 30) and fans of the popular FX series should be revved up for an exciting final chapter.
During a press tour for the Television Critics Association earlier this year, FX Networks Chairman John Landgraf revealed that the fifth season would be the show’s last one.
The teaser trailer features a version of the song “God’s Gonna Cut You Down” and shows members of the Mayans riding their motorcycles toward a cliff and kicking up dust behind them. Just before the leading biker runs out of terrain and falls to his death, a life-sized skeleton leaps forward from behind him and clings to his helmet. The motorcycle continues toward the cliff before the preview fades to the title card.
“It’s been an honor,” JD Pardo, who plays EZ Reyes in the series, wrote on social media. “One last ride!”
Fans of the series were shocked during season 4 when the character Coco (Richard Cabral) was killed off. Many are hoping that the final season includes a heated battle between the characters from Mayans M.C. and the characters from its preceding series, Sons of Anarchy.
News of a fifth season of Mayans M.C. was revealed during a conference panel at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con last July. Co-creator and executive producer Elgin James surprised the cast sitting on stage. “I keep forgetting to tell everybody – and no one here knows this – but we just got picked up for season 5,” James said.
Some Latine cast members confirmed to return for the final season are Pardo, Clayton Cardenas, Danny Pino, Carla Baratta, Emilio Rivera, Edward James Olmos, Frankie Loyal, Vincent Vargas, and Joseph Raymond Lucero.
The fifth and final season of Mayans M.C. premieres May 24, 2023, on FX.
