Karol G Claims Her First Billboard Top 10 Hit With Shakira
Karol G keeps on reaching new peaks in her career thanks to her album Mañana Será Bonito. Today (March 6), the Colombian superstar scored her first top 10 hit alongside Shakira on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Last night, Karol G made history when her album Mañana Será Bonito debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. She became the first woman to reach the chart’s summit with an all-Spanish language LP. The album was bolstered by the smash hit “TQG” featuring Colombian pop icon Shakira.
And now over on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Karol G has earned her first top 10 hit of her career. “TQG” with Shakira debuted on the chart at No. 7. The song’s title stands for “Te Quedó Grande,” which was reportedly Karol G and Shakira’s last song aimed at their exes, Anuel AA and Gerard Piqué, respectively. Last year, Karol G had peaked at No. 15 on the Hot 100 chart with “MAMIII” alongside Becky G. “TQG” also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart.
Back in Jan., Shakira made history with the highest Spanish-language song by a woman on the Hot 100 chart with “BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53.” Alongside Argentine producer Bizarrap, they debuted at No. 9 on the chart. Now Shakira is surpassing herself with her Karol G collaboration reaching No. 7 on the chart. It’s a record that she now shares with Karol G. In 2023, Shakira has scored two top 10 hits on the Hot 100 after a 15-year absence from that region of the chart.
Before Karol G made history with Mañana Será Bonito this week, Shakira previously held the record for the highest-charting all-Spanish album by a woman on the Billboard 200. In 2005, she debuted at No. 4 on the chart with Fijación Oral, Vol. 1.
