Did Bad Bunny Actually Get His Own ‘Official Day’ in Los Angeles?
On Friday (Sep. 30), Bad Bunny’s legacy was commemorated in a special way. Oct. 1 has officially been named Bad Bunny Day in Los Angeles, CA.
While Bad Bunny was in Inglewood for his World’s Hottest Tour, the L.A. City Council decided to honor the Puerto Rican superstar. On Friday, City Councilman Kevin de León introduced a resolution that declared Oct. 1 as Bad Bunny Day in L.A. De León’s resolution spoke highly of Bad Bunny’s cultural impact on the city’s Latine population. Bad Bunny’s special day became official when all council members seconded de León’s motion.
“The City of L.A.’s population is 50 percent Latino, one of the largest Latino populations in the world outside Latin American countries,” de León said in the motion. “Bad Bunny’s cultural impact will have a tremendous and positive influence on future generations and will redefine Latino culture in Los Angeles and beyond for years to come.”
De León is also a listener of Bad Bunny’s many hits. His motion further described Benito’s music as “transcending those genres through the incorporation of rock, punk, and soul.”
Bad Bunny performed two concerts at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Friday and Saturday. The first night’s special guests included Ivy Queen, Jowell y Randy, and Chencho Corleone. For the second night, Bad Bunny brought to Cardi B to perform their No. 1 hit, “I Like It.” At the last L.A. show, Bad Bunny also took a picture with Vanessa Bryant backstage after he invited her.
The two concerts at SoFi Stadium marked the end of the U.S. leg of the World’s Hottest Tour. The tour starts up once again in Latin America on Oct. 21.
