What went down at adidas and Gucci’s big Peckham takeover
Ian Wright! Nile Rodgers! An extremely fab collection! Here’s everything you need to know from the winding corridors of Peckham Liberal Club
Believe us when we say adidas and Gucci know how to throw an event. Yesterday, the two behemoth brands came together to take over Peckham’s labyrinthine Liberal Club – all 70s-style wood panelled walls, trippy psychedelic carpets, and moody lighting – in celebration of their instant classic, Trefoil-strewn collaborative collection. Didn’t manage to make it down to SE15’s House of Originals Sports Club? No problem. We’ve rounded up everything you need to know.

THE DAYTIME LINE-UP WAS PRETTY LEGENDARY
Where to even begin? Football icon Ian Wright in conversation with Felicia Pennant of SEASON zine? Wildly inspiring activist Tanya Compas having a chat with gal-dem’s Kemi Alemoru? Snooker champ Peter Devlin taking over the games room? Or Ronan McKenzie transforming one little enclave into a satellite photo studio, where guests could have their portrait shot by the talent herself? There was even a series of bingo sessions, hosted by the superstar stylist that’s got Harry Styles on speed dial, Harry Lambert, and the one, the only Miss Jason, which pulled in a… full house (sorry).
LET’S TALK ABOUT THE MUSIC
With Recess taking over the space music-wise through the day, Wet Leg and rising star Flowerovlove dropped by to perform two incredible sets. Dressed in a full look from the adidas x Gucci offering, Flowerovlove later told us she’d come straight from school, where she’d sat an exam that morning. When day turned to night, the performances kept coming, with HAAi getting behind the decks to spin a bunch of 90s and 00s bangers. And about that surprise performance…
NILE RODGERS!
The legendary Chic musician got up on stage to perform some of his biggest disco hits, including Diana Ross’s bonafide classique “I’m Coming Out” and Daft Punk and Pharrell collab “Get Lucky”. With everyone pouring into the space as the news of his appearance spread, let’s just say things got pretty sweaty in the main room.
BASICALLY EVERYONE CAME TO PARTY
From Francis Bourgeois bopping around in a Trefoil bucket hat, Blondey McCoy, and current Dazed cover girl Bree Runway, to CKTRL, Alva Claire, and Charli Howard. Fresh from his recent big fashion wins, Saul Nash also showed up, alongside Harry Freegard, Kai-Isaiah Jamal, Lucien Clarke, Sonny Hall, Alexa Chung, and Gigi Hari. Wildest of all, however, was spotting Vicky McClure and Dynamo on the dancefloor when Nile Rodgers got up on stage. Didn’t see that one coming.
LARRY’S PUT ON A SPREAD
With Aperol spritzes and elderflower cocktails behind the bar, Larry’s restaurant shut down for the day to put on a spread for hungry adidas x Gucci guests. With aubergine parm, salt beef foccacias, and celeriac schnitzels on the menu throughout the day, as night rolled around the team from the Peckham institution served up canapés with a Larry’s twist. Not eaten there yet? Put it on your to-do list now.
