WATCH: Shakira & Rauw Alejandro Mirror Each Other’s Robotic Moves in ‘Te Felicito’
Shakira just released her new single “Te Felicito” featuring Rauw (April 21) and it sounds like a modernized funk moment that has already captivated audiences.
“It’s here!! #TeFelicito with @rauwalejandro is out now,” the Colombian icon wrote on her Instagram post. “Hope you guys love it!”
In the futuristic Jaume de la Iguana-directed music video, we see Shakira “building” a presumably robotic Rauw Alejandro. During the first half of the clip, Shakira is highlighted dancing robotically in pastel-colored leather, putting together the human parts of a futuristic Rauw. In one of the wardrobe choices, she wears a furry pink robe that reminds us of the iconic fembot dress. In another outfit selection, she’s shown in a black a la “She Wolf” one-piece dancing inside of a burning circle. Towards the last half of the video, Rauw is finally awake and joins the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer in dancing, where the two are seen mirroring each other’s sharp moves.
It’s been almost a year since her last single “Don’t Wait Up,” which was released in July. However, the Colombian superstar is currently working on her next album, which follows the Latin Grammy-winning El Dorado released in 2017. Aside from that, she is also preparing herself to be part of NBC’s upcoming dance competition show Dancing With Myself which she will serve as both a producer and panelist. With that in mind, we can expect all the Shakira this year.
In the meantime, we have other Colombian artists paying tribute to Shakira’s work, most recently Karol G who brought Shakira’s iconic “Hips Don’t Lie” to Coachella’s main stage. Based on receiving these types of tributes and collaborating with emerging artists such as Rauw Alejandro, it is no surprise that the multi-Grammy award winner continues to solidify her legacy as one of this generation’s most popular Latine artists. Now with “Te Felicito” she shows us even more of her music diversity – I mean, what can’t she do?
