Julieta Venegas Announces New Album Produced by Álex Anwandter
Attention all indie-alternative enthusiasts: the ultimate crossover between pop-rock and electro-pop we didn’t know we needed is upon us. The Tijuana-raised gem Julieta Venegas just confirmed today (March 2) two important show-stopping details: she’s dropping her next album soon and — the cherry-on-top of it all — it was produced by Chilean singer-songwriter Álex Anwandter.
In a recent Instagram post, Venegas told her fanbase: “I would like to tell you something about this beautiful stage that I am about to start sharing with you very soon. A new album is coming, and it is produced by an artist that I have always admired and loved, and with whom I was able to work as my producer, the wonderful @alexanwandter thank you dear Alex, I know you are going to kill me for this post, but I still want to say it, because I love and admire you and working with you has been a learning experience and [also] to see how the songs have been developing to what we have. You have put work and heart into it and I will be eternally grateful for that.”
She then adds: “Working with such dedication and emotion is beautiful. I share this with you, because finding accomplices in life is so important, and what is being put together with this album has been a stage full of learning and love. I really want you to listen to it. Soon I will give you news.” She then showcases her love to other collaborators, and closes the post by crediting her father for the photos that were taken during “magical days” spent at the recording studio.
Alex Anwandter also posted his series of treasured photos that were taken during their recording process, captioning them: “The new album of my beloved and admired @julietavenegasp, which I had the honor of producing, will be released this year. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve done in my life and I think you guys are going to really enjoy it too. More details will be coming out soon and we’ll share more – but I can finally say it now.”
Our minds are blown by this creative plot twist that we have been unknowingly needing in our lives. We have recently seen Julieta Venegas experimenting with soft reggaeton on Tainy’s “Lo Siento BB:/,” so knowing that she’s open to new sounds on top of working with such an innovative and experimental producer such as Anwandter is exhilarating. We can only expect a genre-bending labor of love.
