Álvaro Díaz & Rauw Alejandro’s ‘Problemón’ is Certified Platinum
The smash single “Problemón” by Puerto Rican rapper Álvaro Díaz featuring Rauw Alejandro recently received a platinum certification from the Record Industry Association of America (RIAA) Latin — marking Díaz’s first as a lead artist.
Díaz has been a part of the Latine musical landscape since 2014, and his collaboration with one of el movimiento’s biggest stars at the moment — Rauw — helped him score his biggest hit to date. The song currently sits at No. 47 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and, according to the press release, “amassed +90M global streams across Digital Streaming Platforms and +1.8M fan-generated videos on Tik Tok.” It goes on to say that the song also occupies the 112th spot on Spotify’s Daily Top 200 chart and sits at No. 123 on the platform’s Weekly Top 200 chart, generating over 945,000 streams a day on Spotify and over six million a week.
Rauw’s rise to fame within the past four years has helped cement him as a reggaeton heavyweight, bolstering the record and helping it climb the charts.
In a conversation with Remezcla about Felicilandia, the album on which “Problemón” appears, Díaz said the album follows more themes of love than material items like clothes or things he would normally talk about. “The album is a pursuit of happiness,” the Puerto Rican rapper told Remezcla in Oct. 2021. “The whole album, I’ve been singing about love and trying to find happiness….”
The Puerto Rican rapper was definitely happy when he received his plaque for the certification following a performance at the Oasis in Miami, Florida, on Saturday. He and his team celebrated and documented the festivities on Instagram. Díaz uploaded a photo of himself with the certification plaque with the caption, “First platinum record,” and thanked his fans on his Instagram story.
Díaz has appearances at multiple festivals in the upcoming months, most notably at the Vibra Urbana Festival beginning April 3, with his “Problemón” collaborator.
