Vicente García Will Join Tokischa & Yendry at Isle of Light Festival in DR
Just a month ahead of the event, the one and only indie-alternative in the Dominican Republic festival, Isle of Light Music Fest, has made a change in its lineup. Set to take place on March 12, the Dominican musician, singer-songwriter, and composer Vicente Garcia is replacing the ‘90s rock band The Rapture on the lineup due to the band’s cancellation.
The sixth annual edition of the festival celebrating music, arts, and culture is happening at the same location it usually does: the iconic Punta Torrecilla Lighthouse in Sansoucí, Santo Domingo. And while García has been added to the list, the rest of the lineup remains the same. This year, other acts performing include “El Madrileño” C. Tangana, British neo-soul band Jungle, and legendary band Sublime with Rome. Also included in this year’s bill: Cuban singer Cimafunk, Yendry, and Russian techno DJ Nina Kraviz.
As far as the treasured local representation goes, Dominican artists that will be performing include outspoken rapper Tokischa, alternative artist Letón Pé, and other artists such as El Gran Poder de Diosa, Solo Fernández, Tangowhiskyman, and Yellow Outlet.
Isle of Light is known for bringing together a tastefully curated source for indie artists that highlight the Dominican culture, as well as giving the audience mainstream pop artists. In the past, many local and international artists from all spectrum of genres have graced the festival – Dominican artists like eclectic Rita Indiana and Twin Shadow, to Puerto Rican icon Bad Bunny, Canadian electro-funk Chromeo, and U.S. acts such as electronic band Neon Indian and singer-songwriter Shamir, to name a few.
Now, finally, after the pause of the pandemic, the festival is back and ready for fans to reunite and enjoy all the great music that the Dominican Republic has to offer! Who’s down to go to the Caribbean? Tickets are on sale here.
