For the song, Joel partnered up with Cuban American recording artist Kat Dahlia and American DJ DallasK, who also produced the single. The singer co-wrote the up-tempo track with Puerto Rican singer GALE.
With the help of this all-star team, Joel is already evolving and committing to a musical style that feels authentic to him. “Coco” succeeds at delivering a vibe that we’re all striving for right now. And with millions of fans, he is bound to feel the love and support as he continues his solo journey.
Joel’s fans are excited for his solo career to take off. They’ve accepted and embraced his new identity, which isn’t taken for granted by the singer-songwriter. He took to Twitter to show how blessed he feels to have his fans’ support.
Joel, who was previously known as Joel Pimentel, changed his last name in homage to his late grandfather, Luis DELEŌN. The singer credits his grandfather as being the one who encouraged him to pursue music. Thanks to him, Joel decided to audition for La Banda, a Spanish-language U.S. singing competition series, from which CNCO was created.
