And just like that, Manolo Blahnik has opened its archives to the World Wide Web. This week, the label launched an interactive tour of its founder’s sketches, unlocking the vaults to a bounty of stilettos, slingbacks, and sandals. Between some of his very first designs, scribbled in the 70s, up to the present day, the URL exhibition spotlights the finesse and flair of the Spanish designer, who, somewhat unexpectedly, now lives in Bath. In an alternate reality, Carrie Bradshaw probably consulted on the project, nobly declaring that she need only be paid in jewel-buckled pumps, before penning something about how shoes enriched her more than cash. Plus, her trajectory from paid-by-the-word columnist to “creative consultant” is undoubtedly a subplot in the upcoming SATC reboot. A New Way of Walking can be accessed here.
